'Go well skipper'- Best tweets on Faf du Plessis' appointment as Bangalore captain

The Bangalore team has finally announced their leader for the upcoming season. Faf du Plessis will take over the captaincy from Virat Kohli for the 2022 season. The announcement was made at the event hosted by the team management on the 12th of March. 

Virat Kohli stepped down as the team captain after the 2021 season. Since then, Bangalore was in search of its new captain. Faf's name was doing rounds as they bought him at the mega auction.

The South African cricketer has not captained a side in the Indian T20 League before but has good experience leading teams across the globe. Overall, he has led various teams in 79 matches before, winning 43 and losing 34. He has a massive win percentage of 55.76. Faf has also led his national team in many matches. 

Faf du Plessis previously played for Chennai in the tournament and achieved huge success with the team. He was their second-highest run-scorer in the 2021 season. He scored 633 runs in the previous season and fell just short of Ruturaj Gaikwad in the race for the Orange cap. The 37-year old was also the man of the match in the final, which they won.

Twitter went berserk as soon as the announcement was made. Many hoped that this could be the season when Bangalore lift's their first-ever ITL trophy under the new captain.
