Fans waiting to see Virat Kohli score his 71st century will have to wait a little longer as the veteran Indian batter was dismissed for 51 in the ongoing first ODI between India and South Africa. Kohli is known for his remarkable conversion rate but somehow he has struggled to breach the three-figure mark in the last two years. The fans were naturally very disappointed and reacted on Twitter.
Kohli along with Shikhar Dhawan got India in a good position after losing KL Rahul early. The duo stitched 92 run stand for the second wicket but both players departed in quick succession. Dhawan also missed the century and was dismissed for 79.
Seeing Kohli get out after 50 is top tier pain.
I can actually start crying.#viratkholi #INDvSA— Bvs Pranav (@PranavBvs) January 19, 2022
I sincerely apologise. It appears my heartfelt desire to see the next Kohli hundred can never be uttered out loud. God level panauti. Never again.

63 inns without an Int'l century for Kohli, last Int'l century was against Bangladesh without Shakib & Mustafizur, in India on 23rd November 2019. India were 152 in two consecutive inns when Kohli got out as a tribute to Pakistan's fantastic 152/0 v India in the T20I WC. #Cricket

You can understand the greatness of Virat Kohli from the fact that no one values his half-centuries, If he gets out even after scoring a half century, people reacts as if he is out of form.

Kohli gets out
- after being well set
- after scoring a 50
- in a run chase
- IN AN ODIThe hell's going on with him! Was so looking forward to #71 today! 😔

50 and out for Kohli. Looked good while he was there. Just couldn't convert. Spinners getting into the act for SA. #INDvsSA

Earlier, brilliant centuries by Rassie van der Dussen (129) and Temba Bavuma (110) helped South Africa post a challenging total of 296-4 in their 50 overs. India had the game under their grasp for the first half of the South Africa inning but Bavuma and Dussen completely turned the tides in their favour. India are 159-3 at the time of writing and need another 137 runs to win.
