India vs West Indies

Day 5 of the second and last Test of the two-match series between West Indies and India got washed out due to rain without a ball bowled. Both teams had to adjust to a draw without any result at the Port of Spain in Trinidad. Notably, India were looking in a dominant position after the end of day 4 but rain played a spoilsport on the last day of the match.

Eventually, India ended up winning the two-match Test series against West Indies by a margin of 1-0 which they could’ve made 2-0. Meanwhile, both teams shared 4 points each in the points table of the World Test Championship 2025 cycle having India in the second position after Pakistan.

Subsequently, cricket fans took to Twitter to come up with contrasting reactions after this draw between West Indies and India. Some of the fans also felt that it was the rain that saved the hosts West Indies from the humiliation of getting whitewashed.

Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of the action of the second Test match, the West Indies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite won the toss and asked the visitors to bat first in the first innings. Batting first, the recently formed opening pair of skipper Rohit Sharma and young batter Yashasvi Jaiswal once again stitched a century partnership for the first wicket to help India reach a total of 400+ in the first innings.

Rohit and Jaiswal played knocks of 80 and 57 runs respectively followed by a brilliant ton from the former skipper and modern-day batting great, Virat Kohli. Apart from this, the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin also scored half-centuries, scoring 61 and 56 runs respectively. On the back of these knocks, Rohit Sharma’s men posted a total of 438 runs in the first innings.

Later, the Indian bowling attack led by pace spearhead Mohammed Siraj, bundled up the hosts on the score of 255 runs, taking a big lead of 183 runs. Furthermore, India smashed 181 runs for the loss of 2 wickets with an outstanding run rate of 7.54 in the second innings before the declaration.

West Indies had scored 76 runs for the loss of 2 wickets while chasing the target of 365 runs before the final day washed out.
