Day four of the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia was June 10, 2023, and the action was taking place at the Oval. However, the Australians had six wickets in hand and a 296-run advantage at the end of day three. They, therefore, sought to increase their run total in order to defeat the Men in Blue. As Rohit Sharma and his colleagues attempted to immediately bundle up the Australians.

At 270 runs for eight wickets, they declared their second innings. India was given a target score of 444 runs to win this final Test match. However, a fan was seen popping the question to his female partner when India came out to bat in the middle of their innings. It seems that when she confirmed her answer, he placed a ring on her finger. They were even observed sharing a kiss while they were enjoying themselves. They were also congratulated by other ecstatic fans. Fans also reacted on social media, causing images and videos to become viral.

The incident happened in India's second innings' fifth over. Pat Cummins was bowling that over as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill were at the crease. Speaking of the game, Umesh Yadav struck early by dismissing Marnus Labuschagne, giving India a strong start on day four. He hit four home runs in his 41 runs off of 126 balls. Then, as Cameron Green was batting on 25 runs off 95 balls, including four boundaries, Ravindra Jadeja grabbed his wicket.

Then, for the seventh wicket, Mitchell Starc and Alex Carey set up a 93-run partnership. Starc was eventually dismissed after hitting seven fours and collecting 41 runs off 57 balls. Mohammed Shami then claimed the wicket. As Australia declared at 270 runs for eight wickets, Cummins only added five runs before being dismissed. With more than four sessions remaining in the match, they set India a target of 444 runs.
