Pakistan Cricket Board is likely to lose the hosting rights of the Men's Asia Cup 2023 in September. Since September last year, both India and Pakistan Cricket boards have had disagreements over the venue of the tournament. The PCB wanted to stage the entire tournament inside their home territory. On the other hand, the Indian board wanted it to be moved outside of Pakistan.

Apparently, the Indian government is unlikely to provide permission to the Men In Blue to travel to Pakistan for the continental tournament. Notably, the team will get permission for any World event. Meanwhile, the Pakistani board wanted to play the entire tournament in Pakistan when it was led by Ramiz Raja. However, their stance changed after Najam Sethi replaced Raja as the PCB chairperson.

The Sethi-led board has been offering India to play the tournament in a hybrid model. In other words, the Indian team's matches will be played in a neutral venue. However, the Asian Cricket Council doesn't see the financial viability of this idea. On the other hand, there were reports that the likes of Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh Cricket Board, etc voted in favor of moving the tournament out of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, fresh reports by The Indian Express suggest that the tournament might be moved to Sri Lanka. Also, the likes of Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh have reportedly backed the move.

Pakistan might not participate in the Asia Cup 2023

With the tournament set to go out of Pakistan, the Green Brigade might not participate in the tournament. Apparently, they were hell-bent on staging the tournament in their political territory. Not to forget, there were reports that the board might let go of the Asia Cup if it doesn't stay in Pakistan. In that case, UAE might get a chance with Nepal to make their maiden appearance.
