The Indian T20 League 2023 will be looked at completely revamped with completely a new structure and a new set of rules. The Indian Cricket Board announced and confirmed the new rules for the 16th edition of the tournament yesterday. Along with the announcement of playing XIs after the toss, one of the newest additions that attracted the headlines is the inclusion ‘impact player rule’ for the first time in the Indian T20 League.
Meanwhile, a new umpiring signal is also introduced for the ‘impact player’ rule. Explaining the new signal, a report in the Indian Express reads, “There is a new umpire signal for the introduction of the impact player. They will clench their fists, and cross their hands above their heads.”

The Indian Cricket Board has also issued a note regarding the new extended use of the DRS review system for players; as they can now use it for wide and no-balls alongside the out and not out.
“Currently, the Player Review can only be for Out and Not out decisions. It can now be used to review wides and no balls. The number of reviews available will be 2 unsuccessful reviews in each innings,” reads the note issued by the Indian cricket Board.
Notably, the upcoming 16th edition of the Indian T20 League will commence on Friday of next week, on the 31st of March 2023. Defending champions Gujarat will lock horns with four-time champions Chennai in the tournament opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
