Indian Cricket Board is gearing up the preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is to be hosted entirely by India for the first time. The renovations of the stadium have already started at the venues which are supposed to host the World Cup matches. Amidst all this, tickets and passes are also going to be a big concern for the Indian Cricket Board and associated state cricket boards.

Media reports now suggest that the Indian Cricket Board will get 300 hospitality and 500 general tickets for every match in the tournament. Furthermore, there are also reports that the number might increase in case the Indian Cricket Board needs more.

“The BCCI will get 300 hospitality tickets and 500 general tickets for free in every World Cup Match. In case the BCCI want to buy additional hospitality tickets, the state should provide them,” reads a report in the Indian Express.

Meanwhile, Board Secretary Jay Shah also informed about the availability of the physical tickets. “We will make arrangements so that the physical tickets can be collected at seven-eight places one week prior to the match. We will make it hassle-free. We will start the e-ticket system in bilateral games first,” said Shah during an interaction with the journalists.

The tournament will kick off on the 5th of October 2023 with the inaugural match between the defending champions England, and the runners-up of 2019, New Zealand. The hosts India will start their campaign in the tournament with their first match against the five-time champions Australia on the 8th of October 2023.

The media reports about free tickets being offered to the Indian Cricket Board have prompted some amusing reactions on social media. Many Twitter users have responded with witty and trolling comments directed at the Board.
