Over the years, there have been rumors of a rift between former India skipper MS Dhoni and Harbhajan Singh. They were part of the 20-20 World Cup 2007 and 2011 ODI World wins with Dhoni leading the side at the time. They also played with each other in the Chennai team in the Indian T20 League 2018 and 2019. Meanwhile, the rumors of Singh's rift with Dhoni were fueled after his interview post-retirement.
However, in January last year, the former off-spinner, Singh clarified that he has no problems with Dhoni. In fact, the former added that he complained about how the Indian Cricket Board selectors never let the team stay united. The two-time World Cup winner further added that the selectors didn't do justice with their roles.
"I have no complaints against MS. In fact, he has been a good friend all these years. I have complained to the Indian Cricket Board, the sarkar (government) of that time. I call the board as sarkar! The selectors of that time didn’t do justice to their roles. They didn’t allow the team to be united," he had told News 18 in an interview.
MS Dhoni became busy with his life and I became with mine: Harbhajan Singh
Meanwhile, in his latest interview on March 18, Singh spoke about his relationship with Dhoni. The former said that there is no reason for him to have a problem with the former India wicketkeeper batter.
"Why would I have a problem with MS Dhoni? We played a lot of cricket for India and have been very, very good friends, and still are. He became busy with his life, and I became busy with mine, and we don't meet very often. But there's no rift whatsoever," he said in a conversation with Sports Yaari.
"As far as I know, he hasn't taken away any of my properties (laughs). But yes, I am interested in some of his properties, especially his farmhouse," he added.
