Babar Azam, Pakistan's captain, has gained international recognition as a result of his consistent performances. Since making his international debut in 2015, Babar has given many memorable performances for his team. On many occasions, he has ignited the debate of if he should be in the 'Fab-Four' or not.
Notably, the Fab-Four includes India's Virat Kohli, Australia's Steve Smith, England's Joe Root, and New Zealand's Kane Williamson. All four players have consistently performed well for their teams and are considered among the best batters in the world.
Babar Azam leads Pakistan in all formats of the game and has an average of over 45 in each of them. The 27-year old also guided the Pakistan team to their first win against India in a World Cup. In 20-20 World Cup 2021 in UAE, Pakistan defeated India by 10 wickets.
Former Indian cricketer, Harbhajan Singh has now said that Azam has the skills to become one of the greats of the game. He also said that he has great confidence and technique in his armoury.
"I think it is a bit too early to say if he can be in the Fab 4. I don’t even know who is in the Fab 4. But Babar has the quality, he is a proper batsman with so much confidence and technique. Going forward he will be one of the legends of cricket. But now it’s too early to put him in any league," he said while speaking to Sportskkeda.
"Let him play and keep on scoring more runs and winning games for his team. And talent-wise he is no less than anyone else," he added.
Azam has played in 40 Tests, 86 ODIs, and 74 T20Is for Pakistan. It's worth noting that Babar is the only player in the top five of all rankings. In the limited-overs format, he is rated first, while in the longest format of the game, he is ranked fifth.
