Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh has tested positive for Covid-19. The 41-year-old took to hos official Twitter to make the announcement and requested the people who came in close contact with him to get tested.
“I’ve tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms. I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions. I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest. Please be safe and take care,” he wrote on Twitter.
The former cricketer announced his retirement in December 2021 after a 23-year long career. Harbhajan committed to play in the ongoing Legends League Cricket in Oman for the second and the final leg. The spinner was a member of the India Maharajas team in the tournament, but will no longer be able to participate. The matches started as per the schedule on January 20, and the finals will be played on the 29th of January.
The 41-year old had a long international career, picking 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 wickets in 236 ODIs, and 25 scalps in 28 T20Is. His services to the nation always were important as he won India a lot of matches.
Harbhajan was famous for his aggressive nature on the field and on occasions got into trouble for what he did. He was last seen playing for Kolkata Knight Riders in the latest season of the Indian Premier League but did not get too many chances to display his game. He played a total of three matches but could not get any wickets to his name. He has played for Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings apart from Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL and has won five titles in his career.
