Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed why all-rounder Hardik Pandya hasn't bowled in the season so far. The former batsman stated that Pandya did not bowl in the team's first three games this season due to a shoulder niggle he picked up during India's third ODI against England last month. Defending Champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are going to play their 4th IPL match on 20th April 2021 against the Delhi Capitals. Ahead of the game against the Rishabh Pant led team, Mumbai Indians' Head Coach Mahela Jayawardene attended the pre-match press conference. The veteran spoke about several aspects of the Mumbai Indians' franchise. He stated that the Mumbai camp is glorified with the tempo of their innings. He also stated that the Chennai track is challenging but definitely not unplayable.

Jayawardene also talked about the evolution of batsman Suryakumar Yadav. The former Sri Lankan batsman praised Suryakumar Yadav and reckoned that the right-hander could bat in multiple situations. The Head Coach further added that Suryakumar Yadav is very crucial for the Mumbai based franchise. Mahela Jayawardene also talked about their ace all-rounder Hardik Pandya. Talking about his Shoulder niggle, Jayawardene opined that the Mumbai Indians would not want to take a risk by asking him to bowl. The 43-year-old concluded by stating that Hardik Pandya is being assessed and might roll his arm over in a few weeks.
The Mumbai Indians have so far played three games in the 2021 edition of the IPL thus far. Rohit Sharma & Co. have managed to emerge victorious in two of those matches. Also, the defending champions are currently placed at 3rd place in the points table. As far as Hardik Pandya is concerned, the Mumbai Indians' player has failed to perform in the tournament so far. Hardik Pandya has just managed to score 35 runs in all the three matches that he has batted in the 2021 edition of the IPL. And Pandya has not yet bowled a single over as well. In fact, the last time Hardik Pandya bowled for MI was in the year 2019. The 27-year-old has picked up 42 wickets in his IPL career thus far.
