Ravi Shastri praised Hardik Pandya and T Natarajan for their outstanding performance in India’s 2-1 T20I series win against Australia. He stated that Pandya is one of the cleanest strikers of the ball. The coach also added that the left-arm seamer seized his chances brilliantly on debut. Natarajan from being a net bowler to India’s strike bowler is a beautiful story in itself, said Shastri.

Team India was without the services of Rohit Sharma the entire One Day International series. At the same time, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were given rest in several matches. Even without Rohit and Bumrah, Pandya brilliantly delivered for the side.

Pandya and Natarajan were the incredible stars of India’s T20I win

India was expecting Kohli, Rahul, and Chahal to deliver consistent match-winning performances. However, Pandya and Natarajan emerged as the two-star performers for India. These two players led the side to glory in the T20I series.

The all-rounder was the man of the series for his excellent effort. Pandya hammered 78 runs in three matches at a strike rate of 156. This included a scintillating 42 not out off 22 balls.

Hardik Pandya was brilliant in both ODIs and T20Is but he is still not apart of the Test Squad. Kohli states that the all-rounder will need to bowl as well to be a part of the Test-playing XI.

Talking about Natarajan, he was the foremost wicket-taker in the T20Is with six wickets. Shastri, while praising the seamer, had nothing but encouraging words to say for the 29-year-old. He drafted into India’s T20 squad after a stunning IPL 2020 season.

The pacer was brought in as a replacement for Navdeep Saini in the ODI line-up. He picked up 2/70 in his maiden game. He also followed it with impactful figures of 2/30, 2/20, and 1/33 in the three T20Is.

The 29-year-old got the opportunity and turned into a fortunate one. The entire credit goes to the team management for believing in him. The bowler has got a long journey ahead of him, Shastri added.

With the completion of the ODI and T20 series, India and Australia now move on to the Test matches. The first Test encounter will take place on 17th December, in Adelaide. It will be a day-night match and the first time that the Indian side will play a pink-ball match away.
