India are currently in Bangladesh for a three-match ODI and a two-match Test series. After the 20-20 World Cup, they went to New Zealand. But, India won the T20I series while they lost in the ODI series. All senior players took a rest from the whole New Zealand tour. Now, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and others are back for the series.

In the T20I series in New Zealand, Hardik Pandya led team India and won the series 1-0. Even, reports were there that the Indian Cricket Board might look to make Hardik Pandya the full-time captain in T20Is. Now, regarding the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka, a close source to the Board came up with a big claim.

“Rohit and Virat have already been spoken to. They are on the same page with the Board” - a top official of the Indian Cricket Board

While talking to InsideSport, a top official of the Indian Cricket Board said: “The new selection committee gets appointed in December. They are the ones who will take all formal decisions about the Indian squad. But it is certain that we need to move on from few names. Rohit, Virat have already been spoken to. They are on same page with the Indian Cricket Board.“

According to reports, big-name players Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli will take a rest from that series while Hardik Pandya is going to lead. Even, KL Rahul is going to miss that series as he has asked for personal leave.

“KL has asked for some personal time off. That is why he is not playing in New Zealand. He does not have any injury concerns or a break. He has some family commitments. I am not aware if he is getting married or engaged but yes, he has some personal commitment is what I can tell you,” the source added. However, India will begin the three-match ODI series against Bangladesh in the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on 4 December 2022.
