WPakistan are currently busy playing the home ODI series against the Kiwis. While team India are currently busy playing the home ODI series against Sri Lanka. But, both cricket boards made headlines in 2022 regarding the Asia Cup 2023-related statement from Jay Shah. In response to that, then PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja said that they will not visit India for World Cup if they do not come for the Asia Cup.
Now, he came up with a comment involving political interest from India. Regarding that, a top official from the Indian Cricket Board said that the former Pakistan player is a frustrated man. The way he used political interest was completely unwanted and unnecessary.
“He is just a frustrated man.” - top Board official on Ramiz Raja
In a recent interview, Ramiz Raja said: “Unfortunately, what’s happening with India is that there is this BJP mindset over there. The properties that I had announced, be it the PJL or the Pakistan Women’s League, were done so that we could have our own money-making assets that would fund the Pakistan Cricket Board, which would take us away from the Governing Body of Cricket funding, which is crucial right now.’
“Our independence gets compromised because most of Governing Body of Cricket resources are created in India. If India’s mindset is to marginalize Pakistan then we remain neither here nor there,” Ramiz Raja added. In addition to that, Raja also said: “I made my position clear on this. If the ACC has nominated us to hold an Asian tournament and if India says one fine day that we won’t go to Pakistan and the Asia Cup will also be taken from here, then all I said was that we have options too.”
While talking to InsideSport, the top official from the Indian Cricket Board said: “He is just a frustrated man. He doesn’t apply any logic before blurting out things. Extremely upsetting to see him mixing politics with cricket. He has done this in past and he will keep doing the same in the future. We are not at all bothered by his statements.”
