‘He is emotional and…’ - Mohammad Kaif speaks on Kuldeep Yadav’s comeback in first Test

Team India are currently busy playing the two-match Test series in Bangladesh. However, on 18th December 2022, the Men in Blue registered the victory in the series opener. Kuldeep Yadav made a comeback in this match after a gap of nearly two years. He also managed to win the player of the match award in this match.

However, now, after this top-class performance, the former India cricketer, Mohammad Kaif has shared his thoughts regarding the comeback of the spinner. He has said that Kuldeep is very emotional and he needs someone to show support. Kaif also said that he had to work hard for more improvement.

“Kuldeep Yadav had to improve for sure” - Mohammad Kaif

During a discussion on Sony Sports, Mohammad Kaif said: "He needs a senior guy who supports him. He has gone through tough times. He is emotional and gets hurt quickly. He was with Kolkata and didn't get opportunities. Then he was released, and the Delhi picked him in the Indian T20 League, and (he) bowled well there." 

"Kuldeep Yadav had to improve for sure; he is an extremely class bowler. But when he is down, he needs a guy who puts his arm on his shoulders, whether it is a coach, manager, or a senior player who does that job," Kaif concluded. In this match, Kuldeep Yadav scored 40 runs with the bat in the first innings while he took eight wickets in this match. 

After winning the player of the match award, Kuldeep Yadav said: “Kahne ke liye toh do saal hain par mujhe kabhi feel hi nahi hua (It might be nearly two years (22 months) but I never felt it that way. If I wouldn’t play any cricket post-injury, then it's a struggle. But for the last year, I have been continuously playing white-ball cricket and also played red-ball series against New Zealand (A series). I bowled long spells in that series. If you are with the team (national), then you don’t feel that pressure.”
