India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has claimed the India U19 all-rounder Rajvardhan Hangarekar will be picked in the upcoming IPL auction. Hangarekar is currently playing in the U19 World Cup in the West Indies and has picked five wickets in four games at an impressive average of 16.40 and an economy rate of 3.25.

In the quarter-final against Bangladesh on January 29, he gave away only 19 runs in his seven-over spell and took one wicket. The right-arm pacer is no muck with the bat either. He went to score an explosive 39 runs off just 17 balls with one four and five sixes against Ireland in the group game.

Meanwhile, Ashwin has compared his inswing bowling with India's Test veteran pacer Ishant Sharma and also spoke about his batting. The off-spinner, in recent video on his YouTube channel, said that Hangarekar will be the one to watch out for.

“This player will certainly be picked at the IPL auction. Which franchise I cannot predict, but he will surely be purchased. His name is Rajvardhan Hangargekar. He is a right-arm medium pacer, who can bowl the inswinger very well. Ishant Sharma is the only one who has the gift among present Indian right-arm pacers. Inswing can usually tuck in batters, which is why I feel he will be in demand. He is also a strong lower middle-order hitter. The power he generates when he hits the ball is incredible. He should attract at least 5-10 bids. Make sure to watch him out,” said the 2011 World Cup winner.

Not sure if Dewald Brewis will be picked by the IPL teams: Ravichandran Ashwin

Ashwin also said that he is not sure whether the IPL teams would go for Dewald Brevis, who is nicknamed as Baby AB by his teammates in the South Africa U19 team.

“Dewald Brevis is being promoted a lot as Baby AB. He is playing sensationally, and people have started asking whether he can be picked in the IPL. But each team has only eight overseas slots. Will it be worth giving one of those slots to an U19 overseas player is the big question for the franchises. So, despite him being termed Baby AB, I am not sure if he will get picked.”
