Harry Brooks and Haris Rauf were teammates as they played together for Lahore Qalandars. It is to be noted that this franchise also won the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022. Rauf has now been selected to play for the Yorkshire County Cricket Club and will play for them in the County Championship and T20 Blast. The pair of Brooks and Rauf will be seen playing together in the English conditions.
Brooks has now opened up about spending time with Rauf while playing for the Qalandars. He said that Rauf was always the entertainer of the team, and he called him the 'Joker' of the team. He said that the Pakistani pacer will fit in well with the team.
"When I was with the Qalandars, he was pretty much the joker on that side. He was very loud, and all the lads seemed to enjoy him. I think he will fit in well with us. He's a good lad," Brooks told Yorkshire county's website.
Adding to it he also said that Rauf can be a lethal player in England. He said that he will have to control his lengths in these conditions.
He said, "He's going to bring pace and aggression, and hopefully he bowls the right length for England because he's got good skills to go with it. If he brings that pace and aggression and uses his skills well, he's going to be a real handful. He can swing it both ways, and he will seam it as well. I expect him to be very, very dangerous."
Haris Rauf has not made his Test debut for the Pakistan team just yet but will be representing Yorkshire for the first six games of the season. He will also be playing the first five games of the T20 Blast.
Meanwhile, Rauf was handy with the ball during the seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League. In the 11 matches that he played for Lahore Qalandars, he took 13 wickets. However, his economy wasn't really ideal, as he conceded over nine runs per over.
