India’s domestic cricket batting sensation Sarfaraz Khan is currently the talk of the town in the cricketing fraternity for his unbelievable performances in the domestic circuit of India. The 25-year-old Mumbai batter has reached near the former legendary Australian batter Sir Don Bradman in terms of average in First-Class cricket.
But still, it seems that Sarfaraz’s performances are not enough for the selectors of the national team of India as they are ignoring this lad continuously when it’s about to pick him in the national Test squad.
The Indian selectors have been on the receiving end of hard-and-fast-lined criticism from a couple of former cricketers, experts and fans as well.
Recently, the former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria is a new entrant in the list of hard-core critiques of the Indian selection panel for ignoring Sarfaraz Khan’s amazing performances in domestic cricket.
I don’t think anyone has a better form than Sarfaraz currently - Danish Kaneria on Sarfaraz Khan
“If you don’t bring him now, then when? I don’t think anyone has a better form than Sarfaraz currently, even in the Indian team. He will get disheartened if you don’t raise his confidence or spirits. Keep an eye on him,” said Kaneria in a video on his YouTube channel.
“Sarfaraz Khan, who has scored well in domestic cricket, is being ignored. He should be part of the squad. If you don’t give these players a chance, it’s not right (zyati). He is scripting record after record and making lots of runs,” he added later.
Although one of the national selectors, Sridharan Sharath went on confirm in his latest conversation with Sportstar that currently Sarfaraz is not fitting in the plans but still, he is under their eyes.
"He is certainly on our radar. In due course, he will get his due. While picking the team, we have to consider things like composition and balance,” said Sridharan to Sportstar.
