2022 witnessed some of the best actions in T20I cricket, on the back of the Asia Cup 2022 and the 20-20 World Cup 2022. While Sri Lanka emerged as the winner of the continental tournament, England won the multinational contest and created history. However, one has to agree that there were a few great ODIs played this year as well.

With 2023 just days away, we decided to handpick the best ODI XI from 2022 and it features some of the players who outclassed others in the format right throughout the year. Opening the innings would be India’s star batter, Shubman Gill, who was brilliant in the 50-over format right throughout the year and Shreyas Iyer would be the captain of the team.

Here is the ODI XI of 2022:

1) Top order

The top order features Shubman Gill, Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam and all three were stupendous in format, with all three batters averaging around and over 70 in the year. With Gill at Number 1 and Imam at 2, Babar will feature at his destined position at 3, eventually making it the best top-three of the year.

To add more, while Gill and Imam gathered 638 and 505 runs respectively, the Pakistani skipper Babar, the other hand, amassed 679 runs to his name, at an average of 84.87, the highest amongst the rest in the top order.

Australia’s young sensation Cameron Green would stand at Number 5 with 269 runs to his name and an average of 67.25 and a high score of 89, bagging 11 wickets as well.
