Hyderabad beat Bangalore by nine wickets in the 36th match of the Indian T20 League 2022. Winning the toss, Kane Williamson made the obvious choice of bowling first. Bangalore had the worst start to their innings. Marco Jansen picked three wickets in the second over, leaving Bangalore reeling at 8-3. He got the wickets of Faf du Plessis (0), Virat Kohli (0), and Anuj Rawat (five). Notably, Virat Kohli scored his second consecutive golden duck of the tournament.

Trouble continued for the men in red as they lost Glenn Maxwell (12) in the fifth over to T Natarajan. Shahbaz Ahmed and Suyash Prabhudesai stood in the middle for four overs and added 27 runs together. However, that partnership did not last long as Jagadeesha Suchith got the wicket of Prabhudesai (15) in the 9th over. Half of the Bangalore players were sent back for just 47 runs. In the same over, the in-form Dinesh Karthik (0) was dismissed to dent any hopes of a comeback.

Ahmed (7), who has the ability to score runs, was then bowled out in the 10th over by Umran Malik. Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga hung around for a few overs. Natarajan bowled Patel (four) with a brilliant delivery in the 13th over. He repeated the same by dismissing Hasaranga (eight) in the 16th over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the final wicket in the next over as he dismissed Mohammed Siraj (two) in the 17th over. Bangalore scored 68 runs and registered the lowest score of the season.

In the chase, Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson had an effective partnership. The two had distinct roles in the chase. Sharma was hitting powerful shots while Williamson was rotating strike. They added 64 runs on the board before Harshal Patel took the sole wicket of the inning. He got rid of Sharma in the eighth over of the innings. Sharma scored 47 runs in 28 balls, with eight fours and one six.

Rahul Tripathi (seven) walked in and hit the glory six in the same over to seal the game. Kane Williamson stayed not out on 16 runs in 17 balls. The Kane Williamson-led team  has moved to the second place in the points table after five back to back wins.
