Sunil Gavaskar, the former India cricketer, is extremely overwhelmed by Shubman Gill as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opener ended his marvelous IPL 2020 campaign.

Shubman Gill was the only steady performer for his team in an upside-down season for KKR. The right-handed batsman finished the season as the top run-scorer for his team. At an average of 33, he scored 440 runs and hit three fifties. Gill is climbing new heights consistently, in the IPL and domestic cricket. Last year, he had played several ODIs for the Indian team as well.

Sunil Gavaskar names Shubman Gill as one of the brightest talents of India

While doing the commentary in the Kolkata-Rajasthan match, Sunil Gavaskar praised Gill as one of the brightest talents in the nation. It occurred after the fifth delivery of the second over of KKR's inning. The right-handed batsman smashed a Varun Aaron's ball off the pads to the boundary line using his elegant wrists.

It isn't the first occasion that the legend has given high praise tp the Punjab cricketer. Previously, he has said that Gill has a strong technique on pitches and additional bounce as he gets the length quite early and nicely. The former India team opener said that one of Gill's best qualities is how he plays the best bowlers. Gavaskar feels that the KKR opener is the future star in the world of cricket.

“Gill does have the technique. On a surface that had plenty of bounce, he could punch off the back foot. He picked up the length nicely. He just looks like he’s got a lot of time.

“Whenever you look at a quality player, you look at how they play the best bowlers. He showed enough glimpses to say ‘look he is the guy we have got to invest in,” Gavaskar has said earlier.

Kolkata crushed Rajasthan by 60 runs. However, they lost the playoff race to SRH and RCB who were ahead on the net run rate, as all three teams ended with 14 points.
