Pakistan are currently busy playing the ongoing two-match Test series at home against the Kiwis. After losing the home Test series against England, this series was a great chance for Babar Azam and his men. However, the series opener ended in a draw. So, now they are playing the second game in Karachi.

Speaking of the match, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. The visitors scored 449 runs in 131 overs. In reply, Pakistan scored 408 runs in 133 overs in their first innings. Babar Azam scored 24 runs off 41 balls, including three fours and one six. It was Saud Shakeel who scored 125* runs off 341 balls.

Fans were not happy with another failure of Babar Azam during Pakistan’s second innings in Karachi

Thus, New Zealand took a lead of 41 runs. Then, in their second innings, the Kiwis declared the inning after scoring 277 runs for five wickets in 82 overs. So, they set a target of 319 runs for the home side. Fans were hoping for a better show from the top-order batters, especially from the skipper Babar Azam. In the series opener, he scored 175 runs in two innings. Speaking about Pakistan’s second innings, they ended day four after losing two wickets for zero runs in 2.5 overs.

On day five, the Men in Green lost Imam-ul-Haq and Babar Azam came out to bat. But, the Pakistan skipper failed miserably again when his team needed him most. He scored only 27 runs off 41 balls, including five fours. So, fans were not happy to see their star batter failing once again during a chase in the longest format of the game. In 2022, Babar Azam was the highest run-scorer in the longest format of the game. He scored 1184 runs in 17 innings of nine Tests, at an average of 69.64. He also managed four centuries and seven fifties throughout the year. Even, he became the first Pakistan skipper to lose four home Tests in a calendar year.
