Former India cricketer Suresh Raina took a hilarious dig at former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi during Legends League Cricket 2023. The latter was famous for making comebacks after announcing his retirement during his career from 1996 to 2016. In 2017, Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket. After this, he kept playing for different teams in the Pakistan Super League till 2022.

On the other hand, Raina retired from international cricket in 2020 alongside MS Dhoni. In the Indian T20 League seasons of 2020 and 2021, the left-hander played while he went unsold for the 2022 season. A few months later, the two-time World Championship winner announced his retirement from Indian cricket. After this, he played in various T20 Leagues around the globe in the last few months.

Meanwhile, during the ongoing LLC 2023, Raina was told that the fans want him back in the Indian T20 League. “Everyone wants you back in the ITL after your performance tonight in Legends League Cricket,” the reporter said.

In reply, the Uttar Pradesh player cheekily said “Main Suresh Raina hoon. Main Shahid Afridi nahi hoon. Retirement le chuka hoon (I’m Suresh Raina, not Shahid Afridi. I’ve taken retirement),”  the former cricketer said.

Talking about Raina and Afridi, they are playing for Indian Maharajas and Asia Lions respectively.
