The auction for the inaugural edition of the much-anticipated Women’s T20 League is underway having five participating teams in contention. Meanwhile, the Bangalore franchise is currently hitting the headlines after roping in the big stars including the likes of star Indian batter Smriti Mandhana, Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry, and current New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine.

Apart from these three sensational cricketers, the franchise also picked the Indian pacer Renuka Singh Thakur; who won the award of the ‘emerging player of the year’ last year in 2022. Later on, Bangalore went on to lock the hammer on the young Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh.

Subsequently, a section of the cricket fans in India also looked hopeful of a title win for Bangalore this year as they are going through an endless 15-year drought of title wins in the men’s Indian T20 League.

Fans took to Twitter to compare the Women’s T20 League lineup of Bangalore to their team in men’s ITL which used to consist of the former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, former Caribbean legend Chris Gayle, and former Proteas skipper AB de Villiers.

Bangalore coach Mike Hesson also talked about the addition of these top-notch players in the camp. He called the trio of Mandhana, Perry, and Devine the dream picks for Bangalore.

“Everyone knows Mandhana and Perry, we were pretty committed to the couple of people we wanted to get. we’re very happy to get such quality players. it’s a dream result for us to get Mandhana, Perry, and Devine. Smriti has got plenty of captaincy experience and is familiar with the Indian conditions so highly likely . Our job is to create a hero. We will be doing a roadshow going ahead, especially since it’s a very short period of time we have,” said Hesson to reporters while the Women’s T20 League was underway.
