Rohit Sharma kicked off his first major tournament as the skipper of India on 23 October 2022 in Melbourne. Team India took on arch-rivals Pakistan in the first match of their World Cup. After losing the last match in the 20-20 World Cup, fans were eager to see a better performance from the Indian players.

However, India managed to register their first win in this World Cup under the leadership of Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli was the start of the match due to his match-winning knock. After the match, Rohit attended the post-match conference. During that, a video went viral where he got involved in a funny incident with a journalist.

Speaking of the video, Rohit Sharma was seen attending the post-match press conference. There, one journalist asked him how he felt when they faced the Pakistani bowling unit in the match. Meanwhile, the Indian skipper was having laughs hearing the accent of the journalist. After the question, he controlled his laughter and replied in the same accent.

He said: “I felt Good.” Speaking about the match, Rohit Sharma won the toss and asked Pakistan to bat first. The Men in Green scored 159 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Both Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood scored fifties in the match. In reply, skipper Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul came out to open the innings.

But, Rohit Sharma failed to score big again as he lost his wicket after scoring four runs off seven balls. But, Virat Kohli managed to score 82* runs off 53 balls, including six fours and four sixes in the match. His innings with Hardik Pandya settled the ship for the Men in Blue. Virat Kohli won the player of the match award for his knock. Now, Rohit Sharma will lead his team once again on 27 October 2022 against the Netherlands in the ongoing World Cup.
