How valuable MS Dhoni is for CSK in the upcoming IPL?

CSK is considered to be the most consistent and successful team in the IPL. CSK has played 9 seasons so far and qualified for the playoffs each time. They have grabbed the IPL trophy-winning 3 times from the previous 9 seasons. And one of the many reasons for any team’s success is its captain.

CSK is fortunate enough to be led by MSD, One of the best cricketing minds and considered one of the most successful captains not only in IPL but in World cricket.

Besides as a cool captain, MSD adds values to the team as a lightning Wicket keeper also (Best in the business as of now).

While considering his average of 42.2 in the IPL at a strike rate of 137.8 batting mostly at no. 5 or 6 marks him as one of the most remarkable batsmen too. Not to forget about all the experience he adds to the team. 

CSK are in with better chances to win the IPL trophy this year

This time CSK has more depth in their side as Piyush Chawla, one of the most experienced leg spinner in the IPL, who even played crucial roles in winning the title for the KKR a few years back is now in the CSK team.

Sam Curran, who played for KXIP last year, is another crucial addition to the team's pace attack and can bat down the order too. Josh Hazlewood is another fine addition to the side who already showed his class for the Australian team many times.

Having experience of players like Harbhajan Singh and Imran Tahir and openers like Shane Watson and Faf Du Plessis with their core members Mr. IPL - Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and D.J Bravo. MS Dhoni’s presence and experience of captaincy add a great balance to the team. Dhoni is also known for backing players and showing faith in them. We have seen the rise of players Deepak Chahar and Shradul Thakur in recent years due to this factor. There's always a different kind of aura in his presence in the dressing room.

Though there are two things which we should all consider;

1. Dhoni turned 38 this year on July 7. But as we all know, age is nothing but a number and he can still run faster than many cricketers. He is one of the fastest athletes with even with pad on.

2. Dhoni hasn't played any high level cricket recently. But players like him just need a good practice session; any class player with good practice will get in form. So these things should not create much of a problem.

The 13th edition of the IPL will take-off from 19th September to the 10th of November.
