Former Indian Cricket Board chief Sourav Ganguly expressed his disappointment after the selectors overlooked star domestic cricketers, Sarfaraz Khan and Abhimanyu Eeswaran from India's Test squad for the upcoming West Indies tour. The tour is set to be held in July with T20Is, ODIs and Tests.
"I feel for Sarfaraz Khan, he should get an opportunity for the number of runs that he has scored in the last 3 years and it's the same thing for Abhimanyu Easwaran,” Ganguly was quoted as saying.
Although, the Indian cricket fans did not take Ganguly’s statement kindly and trolled him for criticising the board and selectors. Perhaps, it is because even during Ganguly's tenure as the Indian Cricket Board chief, Sarfaraz was not picked in the national squad for any format.
Here’s how fans reacted:

Speaking of Sarfaraz Khan’s performances in First-Class cricket, he has played 37 matches for Mumbai so far, scoring 3,505 runs with a staggering average of 79.65 including 13 centuries and nine half-centuries to his name. He has been performing consistently in the domestic circuit including the Ranji Trophy and other First-Class tournaments.
On the other hand, Bengal batter Abhimanyu Easwaran has been playing First-Cricket for Bengal since 2013. In his domestic career of almost a decade, Easwaran has scored 6,556 runs in 150 innings and 87 matches, with 22 centuries and 26 half-centuries.
Both Sarfaraz and Easwaran have been continuously knocking on the doors of the selectors of India but they have been overlooked time and again. In the last few days, a lot of former cricketers and experts of the game have echoed the opinion that it is not good for these kinds of talents to go chanceless in the Indian domestic cricket structure.
