Shubman Gill made everyone crazy on 18 January 2023 when he smashed a double century in the first ODI vs New Zealand. He scored 208 runs off 149 balls and won the player of the match. It was his innings that helped India to score 349 runs for eight wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the Kiwis came close but lost the game by just 12 runs.
However, questions were raised when Rohit Sharma announced that Shubman Gill will be considered ahead of Ishan Kishan before the Sri Lanka series despise Ishan scored a double-century in Bangladesh. Now, after the series opener against Kiwis in Hyderabad, Gill, Ishan, and skipper Rohit Sharma joined in a candid conversation, there, he came up with some stunning revelations about Ishan Kishan.
“I fight with him daily. This is my pre-match." - Shubman Gill on Ishan Kishan
During that conversation, Ishan Kishan asked Gill: "I have a question for him) What was your pre-match routine?" Quickly interrupting him, Rohit said: “You should know that as you guys stay in the same room…”
Then, Shubman Gill said: "He (Kishan) spoils my entire pre-match routine as he doesn't let me sleep. He doesn't use earphones and watches movies at full volume. I abuse him and ask him to turn down the volume but he says it is his room and the rules will be according to him. I fight with him daily. This is my pre-match." After that, the southpaw batter said: “I think it is because you slept in my room, you scored my runs.” Ishan Kishan scored 210 runs in the third and last ODI in Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma said: “Just to let you know guys. These two are real buddies. They've been playing cricket together since ages. They go back a long way. They've got great camaraderie.” After this innings, Shubman Gill became the fifth Indian player to score a double century in ODIs. Gill also became the fastest Indian to score 1000 runs in ODIs in just 19 matches.
