No.1 T20I ranked batsman Dawid Malan was not in the best form in the recent T20I series against India. The English batsman arrived at the sub-continent with great eminence as he reached the summit in September and continued his exploits in the game's shortest format. With Dawid Malan prepared to participate in IPL 2021, he talked about its context leading to the T20 World Cup in India.

Dawid Malan's recent performances in the T20 series against India has put his place slightly under scrutiny, considering there are several places up for grabs in England's white-ball team ahead of the World Cup. The 33-year old managed to score only one half-century in five T20Is. He accumulated 148 runs while keeping a decent strike rate of 120.33. Dawid Malan has a reputation of beginning slowly, which sometimes puts pressure on his partner. However, the 33-year-old goes on to explode and becomes unstoppable later. The opening batsman has achieved a mind-boggling T20I average of 50.15 and a strike rate of 144.31 since making his international debut four years ago. Dawid Malan's true ambition lies elsewhere as he wants to be a mainstay in the game's purest format.

IPL will help improve specific things ahead of the World Cup in India: Dawid Malan

Dawid Malan understands that IPL 2021 would be a massive learning curve for the England cricket team. He recalled England captain Eoin Morgan iterating the same. Malan, who Punjab Kings acquired for Rs 1.5 crore in the mini-auction, will be playing his first IPL tournament. The 33-year old believes that the mega T20 league will allow them to work with some Indian stalwarts. It will also improve on specific things ahead of the World Cup in India.

Dawid Malan also talked about Indian youngsters who made their debut against England recently. The English batsman believes that one should be open to learning no matter the age and wants to use this opportunity to his full advantage. KL Rahul-led team Punjab Kings will play their first IPL contest against the Rajasthan Royals on 12th April 2021.
