The legendary Argentine right winger and World Cup winner skipper Lionel Messi is hitting the headlines for his recent statements of late. After regretting the controversial incident with Dutch coach Van Gaal during the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal against Netherlands, Messi has come up once again with another shocking statement for his fans.

In a recent interview, the 35-year-old star Argentina international talked about his further plans for his football career. Subsequently, he has also dropped a major hint of retiring from active professional football.

"It has finally come at the end of my career. A closing cycle to be honest. Finally, I have achieved everything with the national team. The World Cup was something I always dreamt of. I have achieved everything in my career now. It was about uniquely closing my career. I had never imagined that this will happen to me,” said Messi UrbanaPlay of Buenos Aires.

"I have no complaints and I can't ask for anything more. We won Copa America in 2021 and now the World Cup, for me there's nothing left,” the PSG star added later.

Apart from winning the highest title for Argentina, Messi has all the renowned achievements in their footballing career to his name. The list also included the coveted title of the UEFA Champions League a couple of times.

Earlier, a few days back, the Rosario-based footballing sensation confessed that he was also on the wrong side when the infamous controversy occurred during the quarterfinal clash between Argentina and Holland.

“I don’t like what I did, I don’t like what happened afterward,” Messi said. These are moments of a lot of tension and a lot of nerves. It is very quick and people react the way they react. Nothing was planned, it just happened,” said Messi during an interview with radio feature Perros de la calle.
