The Rohit Sharma-led Team India will turn their attention to the upcoming T20 World Cup after being eliminated early from the Asia Cup 2022. A star-studded team for the T20 World Cup 2022 was unveiled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday.
Former Indian captain Mohammed Azharuddin expressed his surprise that Shreyas Iyer and Mohammed Shami were not chosen for the squad, which will be held in Australia in October-November of this year. Former Indian captain Azharuddin commented on India's selection for the T20 World Cup by saying that he was "surprised" to see Shami and Iyer's names missing from the 15-man list released by the top cricket body on Monday.
"Surprised at the omission of Shreyas Iyer and Md. Shami from the main squad," Azhar tweeted. Azhar also believes that Iyer should have been selected over all-rounder Deepak Hooda, while Shami should have been in place of Harshal Patel. "Shreyas Iyer instead of Deepak Hooda and Md. Azharuddin's tweet, on the other hand, enraged fans, who decided to troll the former stylish right-hander. Netizens pointed out Shreyas Iyer's vulnerability to short-pitched deliveries and said he could be exposed on Australia's bouncy tracks.
Ravindra Jadeja, Team India's veteran all-rounder, has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup due to a knee injury. After missing the Asia Cup, senior pacer Jasprit Bumrah and death-bowling specialist Harshal Patel returned to the national squad for the mega event. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin edged out youngster Ravi Bishnoi, while pacer Avesh Khan did not make the T20 World Cup squad.

Hooda Is there for the role of an all rounder where as instead of taking iyer into the team and letting him bat at 7th position it wouldn't be helpful at all for iyer as well. And about shami in place of Harshal is also not that good idea coz Harshal is a death over specialist.
