Mumbai Indians batsman Ishan Kishan reckoned that he doesn't mind batting at any position as he feels more confident playing under pressure. The youngster was picked in the national squad for the T20I series against England. However, he has failed to find a spot in the first T20 with Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant slotted in the middle order. Ahead of the second T20 game, Kishan expressed his desire to play for the country, irrespective of the batting position.

Kishan also mentioned that the experience of batting in various positions in domestic cricket, in the IPL and for India A has made him confident of playing under pressure. However, the 21-year-old might find it difficult to break into the playing XI with Rishabh Pant taking over the gloves after his superb run with the bat recently. On the other hand, KL Rahul could also be an option as the wicketkeeper. Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav warmed the bench during the opening T20I, which India lost by eight wickets.

Making it to the national team is an uphill task: Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan was the star performer for Mumbai Indians in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was consistent with his big-hitting display in the IPL 2020. The pocket dynamo smashed 516 runs and ended up as MI's highest run-scorer in the tournament. Ishan then followed it up with a gleaming Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he struck 173 (94) in the first match. He was also leading Jharkhand in the tournament before joining the Indian team. The youngster accepted that making it to the national team is an uphill task, and he is ready to take up the challenge in the ongoing T20I series.

The 23-year-old credited his success to his franchise captain Rohit Sharma and Director of Cricket Operations, Zaheer Khan. After beginning his IPL career with the Gujarat Lions, he was roped in by MI for a heavy sum. Ishan Kishan might get an opportunity in Indian colours as the management looks to test its bench strength keeping the T20 World Cup in mind. The forthcoming IPL season will prove to be essential for his aspirations as Mumbai Indians have instilled trust in him. India will now take on England in the 2nd of the 5-match T20I series on Sunday, March 14, in Ahmedabad.
