MS Dhoni, one of the greatest finishers with the bat, hasn't gotten many chances to bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. However, the former Indian captain has not been out of action as he has been absolutely phenomenal with the gloves behind the stumps.

Dhoni, who had a difficult day as a keeper in CSK's previous encounter against RCB, had an excellent day in front of his home crowd at Chepauk against SRH. On Friday, Dhoni contributed in every aspect of the game that a goalie can. He took a sharp catch, stumped the batter, and finished with a run-out.

Dhoni's glovework against SRH was described as a "masterclass" by CSK head coach Stephen Fleming. Additionally, Dhoni "doesn't get enough" credit for his batting, according to the former New Zealand captain.

“It’s a natural talent. I don’t think he gets enough credit for his keeping but to be honest, he is an absolute craftsman, an absolute masterclass behind the stumps and often goes unnoticed with all the things he does,” Fleming said during the post-match conference.

I felt it was a fantastic catch: MS Dhoni

Dhoni completed a brilliant catch off the bowling of Maheesh Theekshana in the 13th over of the SRH innings to send back SRH skipper Aiden Markram. The catch also helped Dhoni surpass Quinton de Kock as the T20 keeper with the most catches (208).

The CSK skipper himself was very impressed with his catch. "I felt it was a fantastic catch. I was in such a wrong position. Just because we wear gloves, people think it's easy. A long time back I still remember one game - Rahul Dravid was keeping and he caught one like that. With your skill set, you can't take a catch like that. You have to be in a very wrong position to be able to take that kind of a catch," Dhoni said during the post-match presentation.
