Former chief selector MSK Prasad commented on Team India's performance in the ICC WTC final against New Zealand. According to Prasad, the Indian team had the best possible combination at the World Test Championship. The former wicket-keeper batsman believes that it was because of India's poor performance with the bat that paved the way for New Zealand to register a comfortable win. Leading the Black Caps from the front, NZ captain Kane Williamson guided his team to an impressive eight-wicket victory against India on the Reserve Day of the ICC Test Championship final.

It's our batting that let us down: MSK Prasad

Talking about Team India's performance in the WTC final, former chief selector MSK Prasad backed the team's decision of playing three pacers and two spinners against the Kiwis. On the other hand, New Zealand had a different playing eleven against India. The kiwis included only pacers in the team.

New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson claimed a historic five-wicket haul. He also troubled India's top order in the 2nd innings. Kyle Jamieson's brilliant bowling in both innings put New Zealand in the driving seat. Asked to chase down the paltry total of 139 runs on the sixth day, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor formed a match-winning partnership and helped New Zealand defeat India by 8 wickets. MSK Prasad also extended his support to Ravindra Jadeja, who failed to deliver the goods in the ICC World Test Championship final.

Virat Kohli and their team are now preparing for the five-match series against hosts England. The series is going to start in August. After India's loss in the WTC final, Kohli indicated that the team combination could be changed for the forthcoming matches. Thus, it would be thrilling to see what strategy the Indian team will opt against the England team. After the conclusion of the England series, the Indian cricket team will head to UAE for the Indian Premier League. India's second assignment in the Test Championship (2021-23) will be against defending WTC champions New Zealand at home. The series will take place after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup in November this year.
