The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has lived up to the standards and expectations of a modern-day T20 League. However, the second game of the PSL between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings has been the subject of controversies. From Mohammad Amir’s show of aggression to a nail biting finish to the high-scoring encounter, the game has consistently made headlines for a week.
This time, Karachi Kings skipper Imad Wasim breaks his silence over the controversy that erupted after this marquee match. Karachi Kings traded Babar Azam to the Peshawar Zalmi ahead of the PSL 2023 season. The Pakistan skipper had played in the Karachi outfit for four seasons, and there were rumours that Babar and Imad did not share a healthy relationship.
Imad Wasim also defended Mohammad Amir’s antics on the field
Speaking post-game, Kings’ skipper Imad Wasim said that he was not a fan of media speculations over his relationship with Babar Azam. “It is not like that. Everything that comes on media is sometimes true, and sometimes it is not. I don’t want to talk about Babar because the way our team is playing, we need to focus on results,” Imad Wasim said.
Moreover, he went on to teammate Mohammad Amir for his aggressive behaviour on the field. The speedster was seen throwing a ball towards Babar after the latter tried a defensive push to Amir’s delivery. “A fast bowler should be aggressive. I don’t think he does anything intentionally; it happens in heated moments. As far as there is no objection on him by match officials, I don’t have any issue,” he added.
Karachi Kings have not made the brightest start in the PSL 2023. They lost three consecutive matches before registering their first win against arch-rivals Lahore Qalandar by 67 runs at the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday, February 19. The Peshawar Zalmi, on the other hand, have won both of their games in the PSL so far. They’ll be in action in the next PSL game on Monday, where they’ll face the Quetta Gladiators.
