Former star Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has probably been one of the most discussed players in the Pakistan cricketing fraternity. The former left-arm speedster has continuously been in the headlines since he hung his boots in international cricket. Although his active participation in the other forms of cricket has also drawn speculations over his comeback to international cricket.

But it couldn’t go possible go during the tenure of the former PCB chief Ramiz Raja as Amir made some controversial statements about the former in various TV interviews. Apart from that, in a recent line of events, the newly appointed chief selector of Pakistan’s national team, Haroon Rashid has ignited speculations once again over the comeback of the Punjab-based former pacer.

Meanwhile, Rashid also advised the players to not make any sort of controversial statements in interviews rather they should focus on their game only.

“I feel players should take decisions after careful consideration. Your single statement can cause controversy. In my opinion, players should focus on their cricket. There are a lot of players and every player considers themselves worthy of selection in the playing XI, but it all depends on which players are suitable in certain conditions," said Haroon Rashid in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

Speaking on Amir, the chief selector that he has heard the former is thinking of pulling back his retirement.

“In Amir’s case, I am not sure about his status. I have heard he is thinking of taking his retirement back. It is good that he is playing. If he continues to perform, he will be in contention for selection like other players," he added later.

“You have to see which players can fit in your current combination. In fact, we also have to see if such a player can play any specific role in an important event, which can increase the possibility of Pakistan winning. However, if a young player performs the same role, can be debatable. But I have kept my position open regarding this topic and have not formed a specific strategy. Once my selection panel is formed, we will come up with a specific selection policy,” concluded the former cricketer 23 Tests for Pakistan.
