Kane Williamson trilled for the ICC WTC Final against team India
Both Kane Williamson and Virat Kohli have known each other since they faced each other in a U-19 Test in New Zealand in 2007. A year later, both the players led their respective countries in the 2008 U-19 World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Back then, the Men in Blue defeated New Zealand in the semi-final and went on to win the trophy. Over the years, there has been mutual respect between the two players. On several occasions, both the captains have showered praise on one another.
The two captains will be leading their respective teams in the historic World Test Championship final on June 18 in Southampton. The winning team of the much-awaited World Test Championship final will take home USD 1.6 million along with the ICC Test Championship Mace. On the other hand, the losing team will get USD 800,000 for finishing second in the nine-team competition. The competition was played over a near two-year cycle. The prize money for the team finishing third in the ICC WTC points table is USD 450,000. The fourth team in the standings will receive USD 350,000, and the one that ends fifth gets USD 200,000. The Indian cricket team is heading into the mega clash with no match practice in English conditions. Virat Kohli and team managed to get in only an inter-squad match after the quarantine period upon arrival in Southampton. On the other hand, Kane Williamson and Co. are a confident pack after having defeated England 1-0 in a 2-match Test series earlier this month.
