Virender Sehwag

The former blistering Indian opener Virender Sehwag played for India at the highest level of the game for more than a decade. He appeared in 104 Tests, 251 ODIs, and 19 T20Is scoring a total of 17,253 runs across all the formats. During his active international career, Sehwag never felt a shortage of words both on and off the field.

The Najafgarh guy kept his straightforward approach going even after his retirement from international cricket. He displayed a sort of similar intent in his recent conversation, with Ranveer Allahabadia, the BeerBiceps-named show’s host on YouTube.

During the conversation, Virender Sehwag went on to recall a moment from his international career when lost his cool over the former Indian skipper and batting superstar, Virat Kohli. It all happened when Sehwag was about to touch a milestone in bowling but eventually, Kohli ended up dropping the catch.

“I actually felt quite sad when Virat Kohli once dropped a dolly off me at midwicket once. I would have probably gotten to some bowling milestone, but he ended up putting it down. I got so angry, probably far more than when I missed a triple century. I told him to come on man, you should have caught that,” said Sehwag to Ranveer.

I didn't believe that he would reach the heights he has now - Virender Sehwag

“No one ever doubted his talent, but I didn't believe that Kohli would reach the heights he has now. Others may have felt that way, but I didn't. Even when he smashed Lasith (Malinga) for fours in that match, I think we needed some 280 inside 40 overs, he scored a wonderful century,” he added later.

Later on, Sehwag also praised Kohli and also expressed a surprise that nobody would’ve ever imagined that Virat Kohli will reach such a legendary status in international cricket following the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar.

“So, we knew there was no lacking in talent and that he would score runs, but we didn’t know that he would reach such legendary status and hit 70 or 75 centuries to score 25000 runs,” he concluded.
