Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting have been a major part of team Australia during their playing days. Ponting won two 50-over World Cups for the Aussies in 2003 and 2007. But, Shane Warne died at the age of 52 in Thailand while he was on a holiday in March 2022. Recently, Shane Warne was elevated to Legend status in the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.

Regarding that, Ponting came up with an emotional tribute to his former teammate. He said that since his death, nothing has been the same and he still hears Warne’s voices. Shane Warne played many matches under the leadership of Ponting across all the formats of the game for Australia.

'You can hear his voice somewhere’ - Ricky Ponting about Shane Warne

While speaking to Matthew Hayden on Channel 7, Ricky Ponting said that he had to turn down the TV whenever there is a replay of cricket games involving Warne. He said: “Since his passing, I don’t know if you’ve been the same at home, but if there’s been any replays of cricket games on, I’ve had to turn it down.”

He also said that Shane Warne still gets missed in the commentary box. “You can hear his voice somewhere, and then you go and find where it is in the house and you have to turn it down. We all notice the loss most when the summer starts here in Australia. When he’s not here and when you’re not hearing the bold predictions, and you’re not hearing his genius in the commentary box,” Ponting added.

“The fact we don’t get to see him on the golf course and get some money out of him as well through the course of the summer,” Ricky Ponting concluded. Currently, he is busy doing commentary in the ongoing Test series between Australia and West Indies. Australia already lead the series by 1-0. On 8 December 2022, the Aussies took on the Caribbeans for the second match in Adelaide.
