Kieron Pollard

Mumbai Indians' all-rounder Kieron Pollard reckoned that he was impressed with the two wickets he picked against Chennai Super Kings. The Jamaican all-rounder played one of the best knocks in the history of the Indian Premier League. Defending Champions Mumbai Indians faced three-time champions Chennai Super Kings in match number 27 of IPL 2021. Kieron Pollard slammed 87 runs off just 34 balls after scalping 2/12 in the first innings to help Mumbai chase down 219 in 20 overs. Mumbai Indians are also placed at number four. The franchise has eight points from seven matches.

For me, it is just a matter of getting the team over the line: Kieron Pollard

Set to chase a massive score of 219, Kieron Pollard scored his first half-century of the season. During the chase, Pollard kept the defending champions in the competition. He smashed eight maximums and six boundaries and ultimately won the game for Mumbai Indians on the match's last ball. His brilliant knock helped Mumbai Indians win their fourth match of the 14th IPL season. His finishing abilities came on the back of a good opening partnership by captain Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Kock

The opening duo had put up a crucial partnership of 71 for the first wicket inside eight overs. After their departure, Mumbai Indians then lost three quick wickets. But with Pollard at the other end, the intent to win the match was always there. His excellent knock helped Mumbai Indians to consolidate their place in the top-4. His innings powered the defending champions to the second-highest successful chase in the history of the league.

While Pollard's knock was more talked about, the all-rounder stated that it was his bowling spell that he was impressed with. Pollard claimed the wickets of CSK opener Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina. He picked up the wickets in successive balls. His first wicket was of opening batsman Faf du Plessis' as he broke a century partnership between him and Moeen Ali. Next, he picked up the wicket of Suresh Raina for just 2. Until that against CSK, Pollard was largely off-color with the bat. He had scored only 81 runs from 6 matches, with his highest score being 35 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Then, unfortunately, the tournament was suspended due to the Covid-19 crisis in the country.
