Kevin Pietersen has accepted that he has been left surprised by Glenn Maxwell's impressive performance in the ongoing IPL season. The former England skipper stated that he was initially doubtful of the Australian all-rounder's move to Royal Challengers Bangalore. RCB acquired Glenn Maxwell after an intense bidding war against Chennai Super Kings. Maxwell, who was released by the Punjab Kings ahead of the IPL 2021 auction, was bought for 14.25 crores.
Despite all his capabilities and big-hitting prowess, Glenn Maxwell has not been able to leave an impression in the Indian Premier League. His struggle with the bat was evident during 2020 when he ended up just scoring 108 runs in 13 games. He did not even have a single six in the entire season.
RCB has won all the 4 matches that they have played in the tournament
Ahead of IPL 2021, Maxwell was dropped by KL Rahul-led Punjab Kings. However, showing trust in his capabilities, the Royal Challengers Bangalore franchise spent out a hefty sum for Maxwell in the IPL Auction. Their decision has already started to pay as he has scored 176 runs in three games. The 32-year-old Australian all-rounder won the Man of the Match award for his crucial knock of 59 runs against the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team has not made a single mistake in the 2021 season of the IPL. Virat Kohli and the team has won all the 4 matches that they have played in the tournament. The side is comfortably placed at the top position with 8 points. In fact, Bangalore is the only team that has managed to stay unbeaten in the competition so far.
In their last game against the Rajasthan Royals, opening batsmen Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal helped the Bangalore based outfit to win the match by 10 wickets. After Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 177/9 on the board, the RCB batsmen came out all guns blazing. They quickly chased the target with 21 balls to spare. Next, Virat Kohli & Co. will be involved in a blockbuster clash. On 25th April 2021, Royal Challengers Bangalore will play against the three times IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
