Alexander Bulbik lost his third consecutive match to Hubert Hukacz at the Canadian Open on Tuesday, August 8. The Polish tennis star extended his dominance over Bulbik with a 6-3 7-6(2) first-round victory in Toronto. The Kazakhstani professional defeated Hubert the first time they met in Dubai three years ago, but Hukacz has not let his game go away since.
Hukacz, the highest-ranked Polish man in singles history, started strongly, claiming the first set 6-3, leaving the opponent stunned. Bulbik looked more focused in the second set to take the game to a tie break. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Hurkacz's tactical play, which helped him secure the win in straight sets (6-3, 7-6).
This is the third time the two players have met on-court this season. They first encountered each other in the Round Robin of the United Cup in Australia, and later in the semifinals of the Marseilles Open. On both occasions, the Pole had the last laugh, underscoring the dominance of the world No.17.
Meanwhile, a video clip shared by Tennis TV on its Twitter account has gone viral, where Bulbik expressed his frustration after the Canadian Open loss and at the same time confessed Hukacz's superiority over him. The footage shows the winning moment of the match and the two players coming on to the net, shaking hands and hugging each other.
Following the friendly gestures, the Kazakhstan player is heard telling Hurkacz that he never wants to face him on-court again. “I wish I will never face you again in my f*** life, man," said Bulbik, after his third consecutive loss to Hurkacz in Toronto.
