Senior batsman Ross Taylor stated that he would have retired from international cricket if NZ had won the 2019 World Cup. Kane Williamson and Co. will be playing against the Men in Blue in the finals of the World Test Championship (WTC). The match will commence on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton. Back in 2019, the New Zealand cricket team suffered a heartbreaking loss in the ICC World Cup final. England had defeated the Kiwis after the 50-over action, and the Super Over also ended as a tie.

Talking about Ross Taylor, the right-handed batsman has played in 195 Tests, 233 ODIs, and 102 T20Is for New Zealand. The 37-year-old recently stated that he enjoys batting against India. Against the Men in Blue, he has amassed 812 runs in 14 matches, scoring three century and one half-century.

New Zealand will put its best performance in the WTC final: Ross Taylor

In the just-concluded series against England, the New Zealand team has had a fair amount of game time in England. They managed to defeat the host country in a two-match Test series. The first match resulted in a draw and the second match was won by the Black Caps. New Zealand won the second match of the series by eight wickets. The Black Caps have not won an ICC event since 2000. However, senior New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor believes that the team will put its best foot forward in the oncoming WTC final.

On Tuesday, both India and New Zealand declared their 15-member squad for the WTC final. The Indian cricket team has selected two spinners in the team, whereas NZ has opted to go with just one specialist in the form of Ajaz Patel. It was surprising to see that the Indian team management has included players like Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, KL Rahul, and Washington Sundar.
