Ian Bishop indicates a flaw in Shubman Gill's batting technique

The young batsman Shubman Gill donned the Indian whites for the first time at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against Australia. The 21-year-old impressed the entire cricket fraternity and all the cricket fans with his outstanding batting in Australia. The right-handed batsman got his maiden call in the most extended game format after Shaw failed to perform. In three Tests, Gill scored 259 runs at an imposing average of 51.80. He also scored two half-centuries in the severe batting conditions in Australia.

The right-handed batsman got his maiden call in the most extended game format after Shaw failed to perform. In three Tests, Gill scored 259 runs at an imposing average of 51.80. He also scored two half-centuries in the severe batting conditions in Australia.

Gill's best knock came in the second innings of the fourth Test at Gabba when the visitors had a massive target of 328 to chase. Shubman Gill scored a brilliant 91 runs knock. He impressed everyone with his technique against short balls as he laid the foundation for India's historic win.

Ian Bishop analyses Shubman Gill’s batting

The young batsman from Punjab has been receiving praise from all over the world for his outstanding performance with the bat. Legendary West Indies pacer Ian Bishop heaped praise for Shubman Gill and also highlighted a flaw in his batting technique. Ian Bishop feels that Shubman has a technical glitch which might create problems for the batsman in the future.

The former also compared the opening batsman to Virender Sehwag's early days. Virender Sehwag holds numerous records which includes the highest score made by an Indian batsman in Test cricket. He was also the fastest player to score a triple century in the history of international cricket. 

The 21-year-old also became the youngest Indian opening batsman to score 50-plus runs in the fourth innings of a Test match. However, he failed to get to his maiden Test hundred as he was dismissed for 91 by Nathan Lyon. Gill faced 146 balls in his fantastic knock of 91 runs.

Following his impressive batting in Australia, Shubman Gill has been retained in India's squad for the forthcoming series against England. Team India will play opening two Tests, of the four-match Test series, against England at Chennai. Gill will look to get going in normal conditions at home and fix his place as an opening batsman. The India-England Tests is going to start from February 05.
