The International Cricket Council (ICC) will decide the fate of the tournament when they hold an executive board meeting on June 1. There have been talks over the past few days that the T20 World Cup 2021 should be shifted to the UAE. It was scheduled to be held in India but with the surge in COVID-19 pandemic in the country, the speculations have started.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also scheduled a Special General Meeting (SGM) on 29th May. It is just two days before the ICC meeting. The goal of the SGM is to reach an agreement and have a precise decision-ready before attending the ICC meeting.

The ICC is definitely aware of the situation in India. But one cannot know what would happen in the June 1 meeting for sure. The T20 World Cup 2021 is to be held between October 18 and November 15, at present.

ICC is yet to update the teams playing in the WTC final

Both India and New Zealand are awaiting ICC’s response. At present, there is no clarity about what steps should be taken if the game ends in a draw or gets washed out. It is important to know the playing conditions especially because it is not another bilateral series test match. A senior BCCI official aware of the Indian Team’s requirements gave the statement. It is unclear what would happen in case of a draw, or a tie. There, can also be a probable washout without at least one innings of both teams being incomplete.

The World Test Championship final would be played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. India and New Zealand would clash against each other in the summit match. This match would decide the team worthy of carrying the first-ever World Test Championship title. The match is scheduled to be held on June 18. The ICC and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have decided to allow people on the venue. 4000 people would be allowed to watch the match live and show support for their team.
