'If I compare Sachin and Virat, the latter...' - Former Indian star dismisses Virat Kohli over his comparisons with Shubman Gill and Sachin Tendulkar

The Indian cricketing corridors are filled with discussions if the young Indian batting sensation Shubman Gill is the next batting talent to carry the superstardom of Virat Kohli that he took over from Sachin Tendulkar. It has drawn a lot of reactions from cricket fans and the experts of the game as well.

Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif has come up with a shocking opinion while talking about Shubman Gill and the comparison of Virat Kohli with Sachin Tendulkar. Kaif likened the youngster Gill to the former legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar instead of Virat Kohli.

Kaif felt that Gill is similar or flawless to Sachin, rather than Kohli. According to Kaif’s opinion, Kohli has still some ‘weaknesses. He felt that Kohli was completely out of touch during India’s tour of England nine years back in the year 2014. It was the time Virat Kohli struggled in the Test series against the veteran England pacer James Anderson who troubled the former a lot with the deliveries outside the off stump.

“Sachin was also a very organized batter. If I compare Sachin and Virat, the latter still has some weaknesses. He was out of form when he went to England (in 2014). James Anderson troubled him a lot outside the off stump and he had not the answers to it. He was a total flop in that series," said Mohammed Kaif to Sportkeeda.

“I feel Gill’s technique is similar to Tendulkar. It is very difficult to get him out at this point in time. There seems to be no weakness in his game. Virat and Sachin both are legends. I have played with both, but Kohli has his weaknesses. Gill is on the path of becoming great like Sachin when it comes to technique and mental strength,” he added later.

Notably, both Kohli and Gill will be in action with Team India in the upcoming highly anticipated World Test Championship 2023 final against India. Australia and India will play this summit clash of the championship at The Oval in London on the 7^th of June, Wednesday.
