He batted at a strike rate of 126.19. Babar also stitched a solid partnership of 105 runs in 12.4 overs with Mohammad Rizwan while chasing 153 runs.

However, Rizwan scored 57 runs off 43 balls, including five fours. He also batted at a strike rate of 132.55. These openers finally showed some form with the bat for their country. Rizwan also won the player of the match award for his match-winning knock. While batting first, New Zealand scored 152 runs for four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Babar Azam led Pakistan to chase it down in 19.1 overs with seven wickets to spare.
