Former Indian batsman Rahul Dravid is always credited for Team India's bench strength, which is considered the best globally. Rahul Dravid is currently the head of NCA and has also successfully coached India A and India Under-19 teams. The 48-year-old is now going to manage Team India that will tour Sri Lanka next month. The former stated that young cricketers who are involved with him at India A and Under-19 had become immense talent due to the opportunities that he provides to them. Ever since Rahul Dravid has taken charge of the U-19 team and India A, there has been an ideal shift in India's bench strength.
The former Indian skipper will now be in charge of a young squad that will play against Sri Lanka. BCCI has also appointed Shikhar Dhawan as the captain of the Indian team that will travel to the island nation. Many countries are surprised with the fact that India has managed to create a strong B side and send their players when the first-choice players not available.
Team India to play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is against Sri Lanka
According to the schedule, India will be reaching Sri Lanka on July 5 and head back home on July 28. After arriving in Sri Lanka, the entire Indian contingent will have to serve out a week-long quarantine. The quarantine period will be split into two sets. The first set of quarantine will comprise three days of rigid quarantine inside their rooms. It will then be followed by four days where the squad can train. After that, however, their movement will be strictly restricted to just the hotel and the ground.
All three ODI games will be played on July 13, 16, and 19. It will then be followed by T20Is on July 22, 24, and 27. All the matches between India and Sri Lanka will take place in Premadasa Stadium, Colombo. During the series against Sri Lanka, Team India will be busy playing New Zealand and England in the most extended format of the game.
