On 25 December 2022, team India were busy playing day four of the second Test match in Mirpur. The second game of the series took place on 22 December 2022. After winning the first match by 188 runs, the Men in Blue were looking to win this clash also. This win was crucial for them in order to strengthen their chances to get qualified for the World Test Championship finals. 

Rohit Sharma failed to make a comeback from his thumb injury for this clash. Therefore, KL Rahul became the skipper again in this match. However, KL Rahul surprised everyone after confirming that Kuldeep Yadav got dropped from the playing XI despite winning the player of the match award in the last match. Instead of him, Jaydev Unadkat made a comeback to the playing XI after a long gap of 12 years.

Team India defeated Bangladesh by three wickets in the Mirpur Test

Speaking of the toss, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. While batting first, they scored 227 runs in 73.5 overs. Both Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets each. Jaydev Unadkat also managed two wickets. For the home side, Mominul Haque scored 84 runs off 157 balls, including 12 fours and one six. In reply, Team India scored 314 runs in 86.3 overs. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer scored 93 and 87 runs respectively in the first innings. Both Taijul Islam and Shakib Al Hasan took four wickets each for the home side.

Then, in Bangladesh’s second innings, they scored 231 runs in 70.2 overs. Axar Patel took three wickets for 68 runs in 19.2 overs. Along with him, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj won two wickets each. So, India got a target of 145 runs. But, they were in a spot of trouble by losing seven wickets for 74 runs. But, Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer put up a solid partnership of 71* runs. Thus, India won the match by three wickets and cleanly swept the series by a margin of 2-0.
