Brad Hogg has been impressed with the way the Indian women’s team drew the Test against England. The odds were not in the Indian team’s favor but they managed to change the game. Hogg praised the lower-order players for showing their strengths and putting runs on board. It did not let the Indian batting collapse be a gift for the English women’s team.

The Indian women’s team was in deep trouble and the hosts were just three wickets away from getting a modest target to chase. But Sneh Rana and Taniya Bhatia formed an incredible rearguard action which helped save the game for the Indian Team.

In a YouTube video, Brad Hogg expressed his excitement at seeing the Indian women’s team play red-ball cricket after a long time. He opined that the Indian women’s team was fantastic. They fought till the end and saved the match although they do not have enough experience. But they were not far off the mark and Hogg is looking forward to seeing the Indian side play in Australia.

Brad Hogg also lauded the young talents that are coming through in the Indian women’s team. Young players like Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma made an excellent test debut. Thereby, in four years, the Indian women’s team would start dominating like the men’s team. They might also knock the Australian women’s team off the top position in four years.

Women’s Cricket should also have five-day Test matches

According to Brad Hogg, women’s cricket should have a five-day Test. The one-off Test between England and Indian women would have had a clear winner if the test was played for five days. At present, Test matches in women’s cricket are played for just four days instead of five.

Hogg also stated that women’s cricket should have longer Test series. It would give them a better opportunity to showcase their talent. Moreover, the losing team would get a chance to make a comeback into the series. A three-match Test series would be an ideal option for women’s cricket.

Brad Hogg concluded that women’s cricket is improving with time. But it can improve much better if they are given the chance to play more Test cricket.
